Peru’s Velarde backs V-shaped recovery

Emerging economies are likely to experience a V-shaped recovery as a result of their financial, monetary and fiscal policies, said Julio Velarde, the president of the Central Bank of Peru.

Velarde highlighted the appearance of a recovery in the manufacturing industries and terms of trade, acknowledging the role of higher risk appetites in improving the conditions experienced in emerging economies.

Risks remained, nevertheless, and he flagged the possibility of further corrections in house prices
