Thailand’s Watanagase on financial inclusion

Policies that aim to improve financial inclusion must focus on financial access, financial literacy and consumer protection, said Tarisa Watanagase, the governor of the Bank of Thailand.

Watanagase said that wellbeing was the ultimate goal of policymakers and that many policies needed to be woven together. She said that while policies on career development, education, macroeconomic stability did not necessarily fall under the mandates of financial regulators, efforts should be made to ensure
