Trichet says ECB set to 'moderately augment' rates

In testimony given on 21 November Jean-Claude Trichet of the ECB said the bank isn't planning a string of interest- rate increases, vowing to lawmakers not to stifle economic growth.

``I do not see at all ex ante the start of a series of augmentation of interest rates,'' Trichet told a European Parliament committee in Brussels after announcing plans to ``moderately augment'' borrowing costs.
