Barbados' Williams praises finance industry

The performance of the domestic financial sector in Barbados over the past 25 years has been nothing short of spectacular, said Marion Williams, the governor of the Central Bank of Barbados.

Between 1983 and 2006, the assets of the Barbadian financial sector increased more than seven-fold, Williams said.

The governor added that the growth of the economy as a whole, which has expanded in all but four of the last 24 years, had contributed to the rampant growth of the finance sector.
