ECB's Trichet on the eurozone economy

In testimony given on 14 September Jean-Claude Trichet of the European Central Bank said stronger economic growth remains likely in the euro zone for the second half of the year.

"Conditions continue to be in place for positive fundamental factors to influence the outlook and for economic activity to pick up beyond the short term," Trichet said in his remarks to a European Parliament committee.

He said the global economic situation remains affected by higher oil prices and was further complicated
