Italian consumption must recover, says Draghi

Stronger consumer spending is needed for the Italian economy to grow and to stabilise, according to Mario Draghi, the governor of the Bank of Italy.

Speaking in Turin, Draghi said: "Recovery in the growth of consumption is essential for the general welfare, for the expansion of output and for financial stability itself."

The governor added that economic policy would only be successful if it enabled young people "discover creativity in flexibility and entrepreneurship in uncertainty."
