Canada has a tough year ahead - Jenkins

The year ahead will be a difficult one for Canada, said Paul Jenkins, the senior deputy governor of the country's central bank.

Jenkins said that the real GDP was projected to drop by 1.2% this year but was expected to rebound in 2010 and grow by 3.8%. He said that the recovery will be supported by the depreciation of the Canadian dollar, stimulative fiscal policy, the end of stock adjustments in the United States and Canada and a rebound in external demand, particularly in emerging markets.
