ECB's Trichet at the European Parliament

In testimony given on 10 October at the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee of the European Parliament Jean-Claude Trichet of the ECB said economic growth in the euro zone has strengthened significantly and interest rates will rise further to combat inflation pressures if the outlook unfolds as expected.

Giving evidence to a European Parliament committee, Trichet said the ECB would continue to monitor price pressures very closely to contain price pressures -- wording that usually would signal
