Asset fire sales spread shock to emerging markets
The funding shocks experienced by global investment funds based in developed countries forced them to reallocate their portfolios in some emerging market economies, creating a transmission channel financial shocks, according to research published in December by the Centre for Economic Policy Research.
In a paper titled ‘Asset fire sales and purchases and the international transmission of financial shocks,' the authors find that these reallocations affected average stock returns in twenty-five
