IMF report on the US

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has said the US economy should shake off the effects of the housing market decline and expand by almost 3% by the middle of 2008.

The IMF thinks that strong private consumption, strong employment, continued income growth and low inflation lessen the risk of recession.

The Fund also predicts a return to historical norms in housing investment, and says that global economic growth should lead to a rise in exports.
