Some of the fundamentals of global finance have undoubtedly been challenged by the crisis. With this in mind, the Central Bank of Peru and the Reinventing Bretton Woods Committee organised a seminar earlier this month on the status and prospects of the international monetary system and its consequences for emerging markets. In attendance were senior central bankers, international organisation and government officials, leading academics, and think tank and private sector representatives.
