Fed’s Beige Book reports on fragile state of US economy

Economic activity in the US continued to expand in September, albeit at a pace described as "modest" or "slight", according to the Federal Reserve's Beige Book, published on Wednesday.

The report, published by the Chicago Federal Reserve, said contacts from the 12 US districts reported "weaker" or "less certain" outlooks for business conditions, while labour market conditions were little changed, on balance, for the month.
