UK lending trends
"The flow of net lending to UK businesses remained negative in May," reports the Bank of England in its latest Trends in Lending.
While some businesses used funds to repay debt, the funds raised by businesses from banks and capital markets "remained weak" the report, published on 19 July, said.
May also saw the lowest flow of total net mortgage lending since the monthly series began in April 1993, the report noted.
