European Central Bank - Annual Report 2005

European Central Bank vice-president Lucas Papademos told the European Parliament on Tuesday 25 April that further ECB interest rate hikes will be needed.

"In view of the several upside risks to price stability ... further increases in interest rates in the course of the year are warranted in order to ensure that price stability is preserved in the medium term," he said at the presentation of the ECB's Annual Report 2005.
