According to the National Bank of Romania's Annual Report 2004, Romania saw positive developments in key macroeconomic indicators.

GDP growth was further driven by brisk rise of consumption and investment whereas net exports made a negative contribution to economic expansion. The strong performance of the economy was also due to the bonanza year for agriculture.
