Bank Negara Malaysia - Annual Report 2008

The year 2009 will be a highly challenging year for the Malaysian economy, said Zeti Akhtar Aziz, the governor of the central bank, in the latest Annual Report.

Zeti said that taking into account the full implementation of the measures to support domestic demand, the GDP performance in 2009 in real terms was projected to be between -1 to 1%.

The outlook was dependent on stability being restored in the crisis-affected economies in the second half of the year.

The report was published on 25 March.
