Central Bank of Honduras - Annual Report 2006

The Central Bank of Honduras looked to improve payments systems in 2006 with the introduction of rules to regulate low-value electronic payments in the country's banking system.

2006 was a successful year for the central bank. The Honduran economy grew by 6%, one of the highest growth rates in Central America. Inflation hit a 19-year low of 5.3%. The central bank said the fall in inflation was down to appropriate monetary policy, a good supply of basic foodstuffs and the government's policies
