Deutsche Bundesbank Monthly Report, March 2006

The Deutsche Bundesbank published the English version of its March 2006 Monthly Report on 25 April. The report said the EU intensification of excessive budget deficit procedures against the German government is justified.

In its monthly report, the Bundesbank said the euro zone finance ministers on March 14 gave the German government until 2007 to comply with the EU criteria for the budget deficit to be at 3 pct of GDP.

It noted that this is the second time the deadline is being extended to allow
