Finance minister removes governor from post after court battle

Worrell sacked after almost eight years as governor

The same day he appeared in court in a bid to secure his future, the governor of the Central Bank of Barbados was sacked.

DeLisle Worrell was dismissed by finance minister Chris Sinckler on February 24, after a judge ruled in favour of the minister, removing an injunction preventing him from relieving the governor of his duties.

According to a statement released by the Ministry of Finance, deputy governor Cleviston Haynes was appointed "to act" as governor following a "specially convened meeting
