Bank of Italy puts archive of annual reports online
Wartime reports show central bank grappling with inflation and proliferating currencies
The Bank of Italy has made all of its annual reports since 1895 available online, shedding light on its role during some turbulent periods in Italian history.
English translations of abridged versions of the report were first published in 1923, the year after the fascist dictator Benito Mussolini assumed power. Translations ceased in 1940, when Italy entered World War II, and resumed again in 1945.
