Mauritian governor predicts banking overhaul by 2035

Warns of new technology ‘running rough-shod’ over the status quo

Bank of Mauritius governor Rundheersing Bheenick expects to see a "complete makeover of banking, business, industry and social life" on the island state by 2035, which could result in the "fall of the wannabe tiger of the Indian Ocean" if the country is not prepared.

Bheenick speaks at the Annual Dinner in honour of Economic Operators every year, using the occasion as a platform to set out his "vision for a better Mauritius". Last night he warned the country would descend into a "dystopian
