Bank of Korea brings back Jang as new governor Lee's number two
Appointment of Jang reflects Lee’s respect for seniority
Jang Byung Wha returned to the Bank of Korea (BoK) as senior deputy governor today – the latest step in an organisational reshuffle that has seen a string of new appointments at the central bank.
This will be Jang's second spell at the central bank. He joined in 1977 and worked his way up through the secretariat and research department before becoming a deputy governor in 2009.
After his term expired in April 2012, Jang left the central bank and took over as president and chief executive officer
