RBNZ appoints new head of financial markets

The Reserve Bank of New Zealand today (August 31) announced Mark Perry, who has a long career in commercial banking behind him, as head of financial markets, effective September 10.

The financial markets department at the central bank is responsible for domestic and foreign exchange markets activity, and for research and analysis on macro-financial stability.

Grant Spencer, deputy governor of the central bank, said Perry had a "strong" background in financial markets, having spent more than 20
