Hoenig joins FDIC board

Thomas Hoenig

Thomas Hoenig, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City until September last year and a member of the Federal Reserve System's Federal Open Market Committee from 1991 to 2011, has joined the board of directors of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).

Hoenig joins the board of the FDIC, which insures deposits held at 7,359 banks and savings associations in the US, at the same time as Jeremiah Norton, who previously worked as an executive director at JP Morgan Securities in
