Fed to take early snapshot of consumer conditions

The Federal Reserve on Monday said that it would soon begin a study into how consumers are faring with the credit crunch.

The Fed's Survey of Consumer Finances will delve into how households are coping with credit constraints and mortgage issues, how small business is performing, and expectations about the future of the economy.
