Netherlands' Zalm warns on ECB rate comments

Dutch finance minister Gerrit Zalm has warned euro group finance ministers not to make public comments on the European Central Bank's monetary policy.

"I think ministers of finance should not comment on interest rates," Zalm said as he entered the monthly gathering of EU finance ministers.

"I think the best thing they can do to promote economic growth is not to comment on interest rate policy," he said.

Zalm's comments were echoed by euro group president Jean-Claude Juncker, who said on Monday
