World Bank poll less pessimistic than IMF outlook

Financial turmoil is likely to have a relatively small impact on the global outlook, the World Bank's optimistic Global Economic Prospects finds.

The Bank predicts the global economy will expand by 4.9%, almost a percentage point higher than the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) estimate.

The Fund revised down its estimate for this year from the 4.4% expected in October to 4.1%. Indicating the level of concern regarding the global outlook, Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the Fund's managing director
