PBOC's Zhou says inflation data being studied

People's Bank of China governor Zhou Xiaochuan told reporters Friday 9 February the central bank is studying inflation data carefully to see if the recent acceleration is due to real inflationary pressures or seasonal factors.

Asked whether the central bank might raise interest rates in response to the acceleration in inflation, Zhou said: "We see that CPI is going up a little bit, but it's still not very significant. There might be some seasonal reasons."
