Sweden's Riksbank reports SEK 7.9bn profit

In its annual report presented to the Swedish parliament Monday 12 February, the Riksbank reported a profit of SEK 7.9 billion for 2006.

The positive result is mainly due to the interest income generated by the bonds in the currency reserve, the Riksbank said.

The Annual Report contains a report on monetary policy during 2004-2006, showing that inflation in 2005 and 2006 remained below the target of 2 per cent. This was mainly due to a larger rise in productivity than expected.
