Survey shows Chinese less keen on holding dollars

A survey published on Tuesday 13 September has shown that Chinese households have become more reluctant to hold dollar deposits since the yuan was revalued.

In the three months to the end of August fewer people deposited dollars and more people withdrew them, according to the survey by the central bank.

The survey considered 20,000 households in 50 cities in mid to late August, finding that 6.9 percent had withdrawn or deposited foreign currency in the previous three months, a fall from 7.6
