Palestine Monetary Authority governor resigns

George Abed, the governor of the Palestine Monetary Authority (PMA), resigned on Sunday after a controversial term during which the country's economy came under heavy pressure.

Abed cited his son's critical illness as the reason for his departure and said in a press conference that he would be reassigned to a post in Washington D.C., where his family lives, by Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestine president.
