Thai fin min wants to keep control of BoT

Reuters quoted a senior official this week as saying the Thai Finance Minister Chalongphob Sussangkarn wants to keep the power to appoint or fire the Bank of Thailand governor.

"The central bank governor should come under government supervision because in our political system, the finance minister is held accountable by parliament," the official, who declined to be named, told Reuters. "The governor does not have to answer to parliament," he said.
