Volcker says Bernanke faces tougher time than him

In an interview with Bloomberg television, former Federal Reserve chairman Paul Volcker said Ben Bernanke faces an even tougher challenge than he did as leader of the Fed.

"It was easier for me," Volcker, 78, said in an interview broadcast this weekend on "Political Capital With Al Hunt," a Bloomberg television program. "While the economic situation was much worse, it was easier to act because it was clear what the enemy was."

"I worry about people getting too relaxed" on inflation, Volcker said.
