LDP calls on BOJ to set nominal growth target

Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party said on Thursday 15 December that it wants the Bank of Japan to set a target for nominal economic growth in accordance with the government.

"We must fully respect the BOJ's independence, but this independence is for how it conducts policy," Kozo Yamamoto, chairman of a new LDP committee on monetary policy, told reporters after the group's first meeting.

"Targets on what policy should achieve must be shared by the government and BOJ," he said, in comments
