Kosovo joins World Bank

Kosovo on Thursday was granted membership of the World Bank after becoming the International Monetary Fund's 186th member in May.

"We received today confirmation from the World Bank that the board of governors of the Bank has passed a resolution on the admission of the Republic of Kosovo in this organisation," Hashim Thaci, the prime minister of Kosovo, was quoted by AFP, a news agency, as saying. "This is successful for Kosovo, its institutions and people."

The Republic declared independence
