Bulgaria doing everything to join euro

Bulgarian Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev told European Central Bank President Jean-Claude Trichet on Monday 27 Februarythat his government was doing everything possible to join the EU as soon as possible and to introduce the euro in 2009.

Trichet is on a two-day visit to Bulgaria at the invitation of Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivaylo Kalfin and Bulgarian National Bank Governor Ivan Iskrov, the Council of Ministers press center said.
