BoEs Bean warns of energy cost risks

British businesses and consumers face the real risk of another spike up in energy costs, the Bank of England's chief economist was reported as saying.

The central bank's chief economist and MPC member Charlie Bean reportedly told the Leicester Mercury that increases in energy costs have squeezed margins and that it's unlikely the relative price of energy is going to drop in the near future.

"I certainly wouldn't say energy costs have to rise further, but it has to be a risk," he said.
