Belarus, Russia agree on ruble introduction plan

The National Bank of Belarus and the Russian central bank have approved a plan of action to introduce the Russian ruble as sole legal tender in Belarus.

The information department of the National Bank of Belarus told Interfax that the plan was approved at the 22nd session of the Interbank Currency Council in Minsk on October 7. The heads of the two banks, Pyotr Prokopovich and Sergei Ignatyev, attended the session.

The plan relies on a similar document issued by the two central banks that implied
