PBOC says Thailand has lessons for China

Thailand's recent financial turmoil holds lessons for China and shows that controls over the pace of currency appreciation are needed, a People's Bank of China researcher said Thursday 21 December.

In a panel discussion, Tang Xu did not refer to the Thai government's imposition of the capital controls that many analysts have blamed for the market's steep slump.

Tang suggested instead that the pace of baht appreciation was responsible.
