CBN to lose over 1,000 staff

About 1,040 staff at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) lost their jobs this week following the implementation of the CBN's "Project Eagles" restructuring and re-engineering exercise.

According to the CBN statement, "the exercise (conducted by the committee) was with the objectives to: Lay emphasis on the bank's core activities; position the bank to achieve its strategic objectives, and facilitate effective human capital development. The focus of the exercise is to ensure that the CBN retains
