BNB's Coene says ECB more likely to raise than cut

Belgian National Bank deputy governor Luc Coene said in an interview published Thursday 29 March that ongoing inflation risks in the eurozone mean that interest rates are more likely to rise than to fall.

"Interest rates are accommodative," Coene told AFX News in the interview.

Since there are inflation risks they are more likely to go up than down, he said.

He told AFX the European Central Bank governing council evaluates the situation on the basis of data, rather than giving vague indications
