SARB's Guma reappointed deputy governor

South African President Thabo Mbeki has reappointed Xolile Guma to serve as deputy governor of the central bank for another five years, the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) said on Monday 7 August.

"The re-appointment terminates Dr. Guma's appointment as Special Advisor to the Governor," the SARB said in a statement posted on its website.

Guma's original five-year contract as deputy governor with the bank expired on June 30, and he had been asked to remain at the bank for another three years as
