Canada names John Murray as deputy

The Bank of Canada has appointed John Murray as a deputy governor.

Murray, who has been an adviser to the governor since the start of the millennium, was promoted on 4 January, replacing Tiff Macklem.

David Dodge, the governor who is to depart at the end of this month, said: "John Murray brings to his role as deputy governor an outstanding depth of knowledge, particularly in international matters."
