Boston's Minehan says she will retire this year

Federal Reserve Bank of Boston president Cathy Minehan said Thursday 11 January she plans to retire later this year but will stay in place until her successor is named.

"I have decided that the time is right to move on in the interests of broadening and diversifying my career," Minehan said in a written statement.

"I have no specific future plans beyond continuing my involvement in non-profit activities, and will not consider any opportunities until my successor is in place."
