New Cyprus cb governor may be named soon

The new Cyprus central bank governor will probably be named in the next 10 days, finance minister Michalis Sarris said on Thursday 5 April on the sidelines of a press conference on euro awareness.

"It is up to President Tassos Papadopoulos to make the appointment," said Sarris clarifying that he is not a candidate for the post.

The term of the Governor Christodoulos Christodoulou expires in April 2007 and it is most unlikely that President Papadopoulos will reappoint him .
