Sri Lanka's economy overcomes tsunami setback

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has released its report on Recent Economic Developments - Highlights of 2005 and Prospects for 2006. The Report highlights the performance of the economy in 2005 and prospects for 2006.

Sri Lanka's economy grew by 5.1 per cent in the first half of 2005 overcoming the setback caused by the tsunami disaster and benefiting from favourable weather and healthy international economic developments. The economy is progressing to record a growth of 5.3 per for 2005. The
