Interview: Marion Williams

Founded 37 years ago as an independent monetary authority, the Central Bank of Barbados has helped to foster what has become one of the most stable financial systems in the world. Dr Marion Williams has served as governor since 1999. In this interview, she discusses the unusually wide remit of the central bank, the impact of the crisis on the domestic economy, and the challenge of developing deeper and more liquid financial markets in the region.
