Cyber security rises as fintech research priority

Suptech overtakes regtech

Cyber security has gained importance as a research priority for central banks during the past year, data from the Fintech Benchmarks 2022 indicates. 

Cyber security rose to be the second most widely reported research priority this year, up from fourth place in 2021. Payment innovation remained the top research priority. 

Fintech Benchmarks 2022 data was drawn from 33 central banks, with 31 responding about their top five research and collaboration priorities. 

An analysis of 19 central banks
