Brief History

In 1973 the UAE Currency Board was formed under the Union law (2) 1973. In December 1980 the currency board was transformed into a central bank, named as above, under Union Law N°. (10), 1980. It issues currency, safeguards the value of the currency, performs regulatory functions, and is lender of last resort.
