Brief History

Established in July 1973 as the Central Monetary Authority of Fiji (CMA). In 1984, the Reserve Bank of Fiji (RBF) was established and it took over the functions of the CMA. Section 153(1)-(6) of the 2013 Constitution of Fiji states the primary objects of the RBF. The principal purposes of the RBF are outlined in section 4 of the RBF Act (1983) and the RBF (Amendment) Decree 2009. The RBF also administers the Banking Act (1995), Exchange Control Act (Rev 1985), Insurance Act (1998)
